Anambra State Government says it has boosted economic activities of the state and reduced road accidents to the barest minimum through “Operation Light up Anambra” project.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne disclosed this when key officers of the Ministry appeared before the Anambra State House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation for the assessment of their 2021 budget performance at the Assembly complex in Awka.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that h Mr Ezenwanne an Engineer who identified “Operation Light up Anambra ” as the most outstanding project of the Obiano administrat5ion in the Ministry, informed the committee that the installation of street lights in major cities of the State, such as Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha and other various communities has strengthened security, resulting in influx of investments to Anambra State.
The commissioner said in view of the megre resources of the State occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, the State government has laid emphasis on delivering sustainable water facility to the underserved in the State.
He expressed joy that the Obizi and Otuocha Water schemer which have been completed with the placement of management structures around them, water scarcity which hitherto bedeviled the communities is now a thing of the past.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the committee, Chief Obinna Emeneka explained that the essence of the meeting was to assess the performance of the Ministry with respect to their 2021 budget performance.
Also at the meeting, key officials of the Ministry of Lands appeared before them and defended their 2021 budget performance
