Hong LG Oral To Administer Oral Polio Vaccine On Over 6,000 Children

The Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Authority Hong local government, Alhaji Adamu Hassan has revealed that the council intends to administer Oral Polio Vaccine on over 6,000 children below the age of five in 2022.

He stated this Friday in Kala’a while flagging-off 2022 Oral Polio Vaccine house to house immunization exercise and in health facilities, which kicks off from Saturday to Tuesday.

The Executive Secretary said the aim of the exercise so as to ensure all children from 0-5 years across the local government receive the vaccine to as to maintain the polio-free society.

Alhaji Hassan explained that the local government recorded 101% in the last exercise with 51, 200 children who received the vaccine.

He attributed the success to massive enlightenment, support and cooperation of parents, traditional and religious leaders, and hoped the tempo will be maintained for the health of children.

The Executive Secretary also said this years’ exercise is running concurrently with vaccination of COVID-nineteen and urged people to avail themselves and get vaccinated.

In her remark, wife of the Chairman Transition Committee, Hong local government council Hajiya Maimuna Adamu Yerima Sa’adu who urged parents particularly mothers to present their children for immunization, noted that children are future leaders of tomorrow.

She then appreciated the Primary Health Care Authority of Hong local government for its efforts towards ensuring that children got relevant vaccines.

Also speaking, representative of World Health Organization W.H.O Umar Abubakar said it is the responsibility of health organizations and to ensure eradication of diseases in the society.

He explained that society cannot thrive without healthy children, noting that through vaccinations, diseases such as leprosy, measles were eradicated.

In his message, the District Head of Kulinyi, Alhaji Shuaibu Manauda who is also Maidawa Adamawa reiterated the commitment of traditional institution in mobilizing parents to present their wards for the exercise.

He then charged health personnel involved in the exercise to be honest by ensuring total coverage.
