We all know how awkward public transport can get — but for Heather Mills, it went from uncomfortable to downright disrespectful during a recent train journey.

The former model and ex-wife of Sir Paul McCartney shared a moment that left her both frustrated and determined to raise awareness about life with a prosthetic limb.

“Too Much Space”? One Passenger Didn’t Realise the Full Story

Heather, now 57, took to social media over the weekend to explain how a fellow South Western Railway passenger accused her of taking up too much room by stretching out her legs.

What the man didn’t realise? One of those legs was prosthetic — and stretching it wasn’t about comfort, but necessity.

Filming from her seat in a red tracksuit and stylish yellow-rimmed glasses, Heather calmly addressed the camera and shared the story with her usual blend of honesty and humour.

Why She Had to Stretch Her Leg Out

“This is for everyone who gets annoyed by someone stretching their leg on a train,” Heather began.

“When you have a prosthetic, pulling your leg all the way in can actually make it cut into the back of your leg — it’s painful.”

She went on to describe how the passenger refused to listen, even after she tried to explain.

So, what did she do? “I took my leg off — and he shut up,” she said matter-of-factly, raising her hand in exasperation at the bizarre situation.

From Tragedy to Advocacy

Heather lost her left leg below the knee in 1993, after being hit by a police motorcycle in London.

Since then, she’s become a strong advocate for amputee rights and innovations in prosthetic technology.

This wasn’t just a rant — it was a moment to educate others about invisible struggles people with prosthetics face every day.

Life After Paul McCartney

Heather rose to international fame during her six-year marriage to Beatles icon Paul McCartney, which ended in 2008.

Their very public divorce awarded her a £24.3 million settlement, but she didn’t just fade from the spotlight.

Since then, she’s thrown herself into activism, founded a vegan food company, and continued to speak up for animal rights and disability awareness.

Finding Love and Living Boldly

Heather is now happily in a relationship with film producer Mike Dickman, who is nearly 20 years her junior.

The two were first spotted together in 2019 and often appear affectionate and supportive at red carpet events and public appearances.

Breaking Records on the Slopes

Beyond her advocacy and business ventures, Heather has made serious waves in the world of adaptive sports.

In 2015, she reached an astonishing 102.5 mph on skis in Vars, France, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest disabled female skier in the world.

She only took up competitive skiing in 2010, at age 42, and quickly racked up four gold medals in downhill and giant slalom at the 2012 Skiing World Championships in Aspen.

Defying Limits and Inspiring Others

Speaking about her world-record moment, Heather said she hoped it would inspire others living with similar challenges:

“I just hope that this goes a little way to providing inspiration… so they can go on and achieve their own dreams and goals, whatever they may be.”
