The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, were at the NBA basketball game in Los Angeles last night.
They went on a date night to watch the LA Lakers play against the Memphis Grizzlies in game four of the NBA playoffs.
This was their first public appearance together for a month.
They were seen in a box at the Crypto.com Arena and were all smiles when they appeared on the jumbotron at the stadium.
They were joined by Rick Genow, an LA power lawyer and adviser to the couple since their move to the US.
The Kisscam moment occurred when Harry and Meghan appeared on the big screen in front of 20,000 fans including Kim Kardashian and Adam Sandler.
Thousands of fans began clapping and cheering, encouraging them to kiss.
Harry then appeared to lean in for a kiss, but Meghan laughed and grabbed his arm instead of bowing to the crowd.
Harry then pulled a comical grimace.
Despite the light-hearted snub, Meghan and Harry did enjoy a snuggle as the Lakers won the game 117 to 111, taking a 3-1 lead in the first round playoffs against the Grizzlies.
The NBA’s official Twitter feed featured footage of them enjoying the match with the hashtag #NBACelebRow.
Meghan Breaks Cover to Defend Herself Against Claims
Hours before the basketball game, Meghan broke cover for the first time since it emerged that she will not attend King Charles’ Coronation.
She responded to claims that she is dodging the event because she believes the Royal Family failed to tackle its “unconscious bias” before the Sussexes left for the US. The Duchess of Sussex’s spokesman insisted that she is not thinking about “conversations from four years ago” and that any suggestion otherwise is false and ridiculous.
Meghan’s Recent Appearance
In a video introduction for her photographer friend Misan Harriman’s Ted Talk, Meghan introduced him and expressed her excitement to welcome him to the stage.
She said that she had experienced his talent firsthand, capturing many meaningful milestones for her and her family.
Meghan and Harry are very close to Mr. Harriman and his wife, Camilla Holmstroem.
Mr. Harriman was asked to photograph them for their second pregnancy announcement and was also asked to take pictures at Lilibet’s first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last June.
Mr. Harriman, who worked in finance before becoming a photographer in 2016, is known for capturing events that have changed the world and some of the planet’s most recognizable faces.
He has also captured moments from the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.
Harry to Attend Coronation Alone
Harry will attend the Coronation on May 6 alone, while Meghan stays in California with their children.
This decision was made as Archie’s fourth birthday falls on the same day as the ceremony.
Meghan’s press team has insisted that she is not dodging the Coronation due to her alleged grievances with the Royal Family’s “unconscious bias.”
