Harrison Ford, at 82, is showing no signs of slowing down as he continues to take on new projects.
The iconic actor, known for his roles in Indiana Jones and Star Wars, is not just busy on the big screen but also making waves in the television world.
At a red carpet event in Los Angeles for the second season of 1923, Ford opened up about his career and his thoughts on retirement.
Harrison Ford’s Take on Retirement
When asked about the possibility of retiring from his long-running career, Ford had a rather unusual response.
His answer to what would make him retire was simple yet amusing: “When you forget my name.”
The actor made it clear that he’s still in the game and not planning to step away anytime soon.
A Strong Season of 1923
Ford, who stars in 1923 alongside Helen Mirren, was quick to praise the new season, which is set to debut on February 23 on Paramount Plus. “It’s great.
It’s a very strong season,” he said with enthusiasm.
Despite his busy schedule, when asked if he’d return for a potential third season, Ford gave a laid-back response: “I just work here,” referring to Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Yellowstone universe.
Ford Describes His Career Phase as ‘Stupid’
The actor was also asked about how he would describe this current phase of his career.
With his signature humility and self-deprecating humor, he replied, “Stupid.”
However, when the interviewer pointed out that he’s “everywhere,” Ford admitted, “A little bit too everywhere for my sensibilities.”
He acknowledged that his recent projects, including 1923 and Shrinking, had come about due to a streak of great writing, something he clearly appreciated.
From Movies to Super Bowl Commercials
Ford’s talents aren’t confined to just films and television—he also made a surprise appearance in a Super Bowl commercial for Jeep earlier this month.
While initially hesitant about the commercial, Ford was convinced by Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny director James Mangold to get involved.
“You always say no at first… [But the commercial] was refined and personalized,” Ford explained. The two-minute ad, titled Owner’s Manual, was more than just a typical commercial for him.
“It’s about having control and choice in your own life,” he said.
Reflecting on Life in the Jeep Ad
Ford described the Jeep commercial as a “rumination on life” rather than the typical flashy, in-your-face ad.
He enjoyed the more subtle approach, which made the commercial feel like a more personal reflection on life and responsibility.
“We’re just going to be there, eating and drinking like everybody else.
I’m there to watch the game,” Ford joked, adding that while he had already seen the commercial, he still enjoyed the Super Bowl experience.
Harrison Ford’s Unstoppable Work Ethic
With multiple TV shows, movies, and even a commercial under his belt, Harrison Ford remains as dedicated to his craft as ever.
Despite his busy schedule, Ford is clearly still passionate about his work, expressing gratitude for the excellent writing he’s been able to work with.
Whether on screen or in commercials, Harrison Ford’s career continues to thrive, and it seems like he has no plans of retiring anytime soon.
