Gunmen invade Edo farm, kill staff and burn down 20-hectare rubber plantation

A staff of Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc was on Tuesday February 1, killed by gunmen who invaded the company and set its 20-hectare rubber plantation on fire.
Fidelis Oliseh, spokesperson of the company which owns the plantation located at Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, said the gunmen stormed the plantation with AK-47 rifles and shot at one of their workers while he was trying to protect the company’s equipment.
After burning the excavators on the farm, the gunmen proceeded to the rubber plantation which was close by and also set it on fire.
The company has now shut down production and is currently working with security agencies over the attack.
