Gretchen Felker-Martin Sparks Outrage by Mocking Charlie Kirk’s Appearance and Comments on Patreon in the United States

The fallout from a shocking social media post continues to ripple across the literary and comics communities. Gretchen Felker-Martin, a transgender author once tapped to write a high-profile Batman spinoff, has come under fire again after making controversial remarks about the late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Social Media Comments Ignite Backlash

Felker-Martin took to her Patreon page to defend an earlier post in which she wrote, “[I] hope the bullet’s OK” following Kirk’s death.

In the same post, she described him in mocking terms, referencing “his sneering face, his mouth full of teeth like baby corns and gums like congealed aspic.”

This latest commentary has reignited public outrage, coming months after her initial controversial statements about Kirk led to the cancellation of her Red Hood comic series.

DC Comics Pulls Red Hood Series

The debut issue of Felker-Martin’s Red Hood series had only just hit stores when DC Comics decided to cancel all subsequent issues.

Retailers were asked to remove the comic from shelves and offer refunds to customers.

DC also issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to community standards, saying:

“Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC’s standards of conduct.”

A Pattern of Provocative Statements

This is not the first time Felker-Martin has made headlines for incendiary remarks.

In the past, she expressed extreme hostility toward Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, suggesting she wished to commit violence against her over transgender rights disputes.

Felker-Martin also drew criticism for praising what she described as Osama Bin Laden’s “principled” attack on the Twin Towers in 2020, a comment she later deleted and apologized for.

Defending Her Statements

In her Patreon post, Felker-Martin argued that her comments about Kirk were a response to what she described as his promotion of “violent white supremacy” and “brutal oppression of those he considered undesirable.”

She doubled down on her words, stating that his “cruelty will linger like a bad smell for decades to come,” and expressed regret only that she didn’t address his actions more seriously while discussions were ongoing.

Public and Publisher Reactions

The controversy has prompted widespread condemnation online, with critics highlighting the contradiction between her stated aversion to violence and her past threatening rhetoric.

DC Comics has confirmed it will issue refunds to readers who purchased the debut Red Hood issue.

A History of Trans Activism and Online Outbursts

Felker-Martin first attracted national attention for her vocal criticism of writers, including Rowling, whom she accused of transphobia.

She has previously linked these figures to real-world violence against transgender individuals, notably after the 2023 murder of British teenager Brianna Ghey.

Her outspoken opinions have consistently sparked heated debate about the boundaries of free expression, social media responsibility, and the intersection of politics, identity, and entertainment.
