Grandfather protected 5-year-old granddaughter from fiancé’s rape

Grandfather prevented his five-year-old granddaughter from being raped by his daughter’s fiancé by punching him in the face when he spotted him abusing her.

Grandfather struck 22-year-old Aaron Cunagin after seeing him assaulting a youngster. Cunagin was caught without underpants and exposing himself to a five-year-old. Police were contacted and Cunagin was subsequently arrested.

Police say a grandfather prevented his five-year-old granddaughter from being raped by his daughter’s fiancé by hitting him in the face when he found the assault.

Wednesday afternoon in Middletown, Pennsylvania, the grandmother’s grandfather punched 22-year-old Aaron Cunagin after discovering him without underpants and exposing himself to a 5-year-old kid.

According to court documents viewed by Fox 11, the unidentified elderly relative had earlier gone through his granddaughter’s bedroom and observed her sitting on Cunagin’s lap, which he felt was “strange.”

When the girl’s bedroom remained ‘too quiet,’ he returned to discover Cunagin exposing himself to the girl while he was naked from the waist down. Cunagin had surrounded the girl in the corner of her room between the bed and the crib.

At 3.36 p.m., outraged, the grandpa punched Cunagin, his daughter’s fiance, before shouting and contacting the Middletown Borough Police Department to the Pineford Apartments residence of the family.

Officers arrived at the scene and detained Cunagin, with the 5-year-old child telling them that five similar events had already occurred. Cunagin contradicts this.

Cunagin initially told police that his pants had come down when he stood up by mistake. According to an affidavit seen by Fox 11, he then claimed that he had removed them when he felt ‘numb’ after the girl pulled her trousers down.

According to the affidavit, Cunagin told the authorities, “I was just wondering if I should actually do it or not.”

At 3.36 p.m., the grandpa assaulted Cunagin, his daughter’s fiance, before shouting and contacting the Middletown Borough Police Department to the Pineford Apartments (GV) residence of the family.

Unidentified woman in the flat was awoken by the grandfather’s punches and yelling at Cunagin.

She reported that Cunigan informed her he ‘passed out’ during the event in the girl’s bedroom and apologized.

Police said in a statement that Cunigan has been charged with rape of a child, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a juvenile, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure.

After failing to post $150,000 bail, he was arraigned in Dauphin County and committed to the Dauphin County Correctional Facility.
