According to a report, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized his fellow Republicans for not fighting against what he calls “woke ideology” during an event hosted by the political group Club for Growth. DeSantis highlighted Florida’s success as a red state and argued that it is essential to take the offensive against the left’s ideology. He criticized some Republicans for being passive and letting the media define the terms of the debate.
DeSantis claimed that he has been successful in stomping down the “pernicious” woke ideology in Florida, which has made his state a success story for Republicans. He also cited the battle he won against Disney, which had lobbied against his “Don’t Say Gay” bill. On Monday, DeSantis signed legislation that put Disney’s self-governed Reedy Creek Improvement District under state control.
DeSantis believes that corporate America should not be allowed to advance the left’s agenda without any checks and balances. He argues that his policies are protecting people from having the woke ideology shoved down their throats in institutions. Although DeSantis did not address a potential White House bid, he spoke about how his work in Florida could serve as a blueprint for the rest of the country.
Earlier in the week, DeSantis boasted that Florida’s Democratic Party had effectively become a “dead, rotten carcass” in what was once a swing state. DeSantis urged Republicans not to shy away from fighting against the left’s ideology and not to let the media define the terms of the debate. He emphasized that it is possible to fight back and defeat the left’s agenda.
