Governor Bello orders investigation into alleged killing of an Okada rider by policeman over sachet water

Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the murder of a motorbike rider in Kabba town, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of the state, who was allegedly slain by a police officer. Onogwu Muhammed, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, said this in a statement released on Sunday, January 23.

Remember that following the purported shooting of a teenage motorbike rider by a police officer over sachet water, there was chaos in Kabba town as enraged youths swarmed the streets. Following the incident, enraged youths demolished the old Kabba Police Barracks.

In the statement, the Governor called on the youths in Kabba to remain calm and allow investigation into the matter for necessary action. The governor described the incident as unfortunate and warned the people to desist from any action capable of truncating the sustained peace and stability across the state.
He directed that the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command should investigate and punish the police officer involved in the alleged killing of the defenceless young man.
