The model, who dated actor Glen Powell for over three years, recently opened up about how she felt blindsided when gossip about Glen having an affair with Sydney Sweeney started swirling during the promotion of their movie Anyone But You.

Gigi and Glen’s relationship came to an end in early 2023, around the same time Glen and Sydney were making waves promoting their romantic comedy.

Glen later admitted to the New York Times that this tactic “worked wonderfully” and praised Sydney for being “very smart” in pulling it off.

But what about Gigi? She shared her side in an episode of the podcast Too Much, recalling how devastated she was when the rumors broke out.
She said she felt blindsided and “shattered” by it all.
According to Gigi, when she confronted Glen about the rumors, he waved her concerns aside, telling her, “This is what I have to do for my job.”
That left her with a tough decision: either pretend everything was fine and stay silent while the gossip swirled, or stand up for herself and walk away.
She chose the latter.
Standing Up for Herself and Setting Boundaries
Gigi explained, “I just wanted respect. Especially if this is going to be public, don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years.”
She said it wasn’t about twisting the story for attention or monetizing the breakup—it was about basic decency and honesty.
For Glen, she felt work came first, and if that’s how it had to be, then she had to step away.
“I just hit a threshold of what I could take,” she said, describing how she even flew across the world to Australia—where the movie was mainly filmed—just to tell him, “I can’t do this anymore.”
She admits she was crying throughout that flight.
What Gigi Wishes Glen Had Done
Looking back, Gigi believes Glen should have publicly denied the affair rumors and stood by her, especially during a time when they were still together.
“The bare minimum of any relationship is to have your partner’s back,” she said.
Instead, she feels like she was “fed to the dogs” and left to handle the fallout on her own, while Glen and Sydney’s team turned the speculation into a successful PR move.
Glen and Sydney’s Take on the Situation
Glen, in interviews after the split, praised Sydney’s cleverness in using the rumors to boost the movie’s profile.
He joked that he didn’t have the “mental capacity” to pull off such a scheme, but that Sydney was “very smart.”
He also admitted that going through a real breakup while on a promotional tour made it harder for him to fully engage with the rumors.
Sydney, who was engaged to longtime boyfriend Jonathan Davino until their recent split, played an active role in promoting the film, even acting as an executive producer.
She revealed she kept the marketing team busy with ideas, wanting to engage directly with the audience to shape the narrative around the movie.

Despite all the heartbreak and drama, Gigi confessed she hoped that if Glen and Sydney did end up together, it would at least make the pain worth it.
“I honestly hoped that they’d end up together because at least it would make it worth it for me,” she said with a sad laugh.
