Daniel Jones is a Giants fan. The Giants desire Daniel Jones.
On Sunday, the soon-to-be free agency quarterback stated that he “loves this place” and wants to remain with the team. On Monday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen stated that the team wants to retain the former first-round choice.
“We’d like Daniel to be here,” Schoen remarked. “As he stated yesterday, there is an economic aspect to this, but we believe Daniel has performed well this season. He has complied with all of our requests. Again, there is a business component, but we have not yet explored that route. Late in the week, we must still hold staff meetings, after which we will design an offseason strategy. We have not yet held these meetings, but we would welcome Daniel Jones’ return.
In his fourth season with the Giants, Jones threw for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only five interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his attempts. In addition, he set career records with 120 carries, 708 yards, and seven rushing touchdowns.
In the previous offseason, the Giants declined Jones’ fifth-year option.
Monday, head coach Brian Daboll remarked, “He has done a fantastic job operating and executing our offense.” He has made progress in many different areas.
