What should have been a day of celebration turned into heartbreak in Limpopo after a devastating bus crash claimed the lives of four women.
The incident happened on Saturday, 9 August, along the R81 road in Sekgopo, in the Mopani District.
How the Crash Happened
According to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, early reports suggest that the driver lost control of the bus, causing it to overturn.
The scene quickly turned sombre as emergency services confirmed that four women had died on impact.
Eight passengers sustained injuries ranging from serious to moderate, while 45 others — including the bus driver — were left with minor wounds.
Emergency Response and Medical Care
Officials said all the injured were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including Kgapane Hospital, Mankweng Hospital, and Van Velden Hospital, for urgent treatment.
Medical teams worked swiftly to ensure every patient received immediate care.
Cause Still Under Investigation
While the exact reason for the crash is yet to be determined, authorities have launched a full investigation to uncover what led to the tragic incident.
