Four People Injured in Mystery Substance Attack Outside University of Greenwich’s Avery Hill Campus in Southeast London

Four individuals were injured in a bizarre incident outside the University of Greenwich’s Avery Hill campus in southeast London, when they were sprayed with an unknown substance.

The alarming event occurred just before 12:15 a.m. on the night of December 10.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Upon receiving reports of an attack, Metropolitan Police officers arrived at the scene, where they discovered that a man had been assaulted and sprayed with the substance.

While investigating further, authorities found three additional people who had also been sprayed.

Paramedics treated them at the scene before transporting them to the hospital.

Fortunately, tests on the substance revealed it was non-toxic, and none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

While the investigation continues, no arrests have been made, and a crime scene has been established.

Campus Operations Affected but Not Disrupted

The University of Greenwich responded promptly, noting that the incident did not involve any students from the university.

Though the main entrance to the campus was temporarily closed, it has since been reopened.

For a time, staff, students, and visitors were directed to alternate entrances, and some delays were expected for the campus bus service.

A university spokesperson clarified that while the entrance was blocked off, the rest of the campus remained open as usual.

Authorities are still urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.

Details from Emergency Services

The London Ambulance Service also responded swiftly to the scene.

A spokesperson confirmed that they were called at 12:22 a.m. to treat multiple victims.

The response team included ambulance crews, paramedics in rapid response vehicles, and members of the Hazardous Area Response Team.

Three individuals were treated and transported to the hospital for further care.

As investigations continue, both the police and university officials are working to understand the nature of the incident and ensure the safety of the community.
