Former West Ham Midfielder Nene Joins Brazilian Second-Tier Club

Football player Nene has joined Brazilian second tier side Juventude on loan from Vasco de Gama, the team that plays in the division above, making it his 15th club in his career.

He is a former West Ham attacking midfielder who played eight games for them in the 2014/15 season.

Nene has spent most of his career playing in Brazil, but French fans remember him well from his spells with PSG and Monaco.

He also had a career in Spain, playing for La Liga teams such as Mallorca, Alaves, Celta Vigo and Espanyol.

Nene made over 100 appearances for PSG, scoring 48 goals, and was part of their first title-winning team of the Century after the club was bought by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011.

Nene joined West Ham as a free agent in February 2015 after his contract was cancelled by Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa SC a month earlier for fighting a teammate.

He failed to secure a starting spot in Sam Allardyce’s side and was released at the end of the season.

He moved back to his homeland after leaving the Premier League, joining Vasco de Gama for the first time, before having spells with Sao Paulo and Fluminense.

After signing for Juventude earlier this week, Nene was greeted by many chanting fans as he arrived at the club’s stadium ahead of his presentation press conference.

In his press conference, he pledged to give his best efforts to help Juventude achieve promotion to Serie A, which is the club’s main goal this year.

He said, “If every game I can give an assist or score a goal … I’ll be happy.”
