FlySafair has just made it more convenient to travel between Johannesburg and George, with the launch of a new flight route from Lanseria International Airport to George Airport.
Starting on Friday, March 14, the airline began offering daily flights between these two popular destinations, providing travelers with an easy and affordable way to journey between the bustling city and the serene coastal town.
New Flight Schedule and Affordable Pricing
FlySafair’s new service operates daily, with flights departing Lanseria at 10:10 AM and arriving in George at 12:20 PM.
The return flights leave George at 12:55 PM, landing back at Lanseria at 2:55 PM.
The airline is offering competitive fares starting at just R1162, making it a cost-effective option for both leisure and business travelers.
FlySafair celebrated the inaugural flight with a traditional water salute at George Airport, marking the beginning of this new route with great enthusiasm.
FlySafair’s Commitment to Uninterrupted Operations
In addition to the launch of the new route, FlySafair recently reassured its passengers that operations will continue without interruption despite facing a ruling from the Air Services Licensing Council (ASLC).
The airline was previously found in violation of South African law regarding foreign ownership limits, as it is majority-owned by the Ireland-based ASL Aviation Holdings.
The ASLC has given FlySafair a 12-month period to comply with regulations and submit monthly progress reports.
Compliance Deadline and Future Outlook
FlySafair now has a year to adjust its shareholding structure in order to meet South African aviation regulations, which limit foreign ownership of domestic airlines to 25%.
Despite this, the airline remains confident in its ability to resolve the issue within the given timeframe.
The move follows complaints from rival airlines Airlink and LIFT regarding FlySafair’s ownership structure, which is largely controlled by ASL Aviation Holdings.
The airline is committed to adhering to the rules while continuing to offer daily flights to various destinations.
