In February, the news broke that Florida Republican Rep. Cory Mills was under investigation after a 911 call led police to his Washington, D.C. residence.
The incident centered around a domestic dispute, drawing attention to his personal life and raising questions about the lawmaker’s conduct.
What followed was a series of conflicting reports and statements, with the 27-year-old woman involved, Sarah Raviani, breaking her silence to set the record straight.
The Domestic Dispute and 911 Call
Sarah Raviani, co-founder of Iranians for Trump, was the person who called the police to Mills’ home.
According to a police report obtained by NBC, Raviani accused Mills of physically assaulting her by grabbing, shoving, and pushing her out of his apartment.
She reportedly had fresh bruises on her arm at the time.
Raviani further claimed that Mills tried to coerce her into lying to the authorities about the source of her injuries.
While the police report detailed these claims, it also mentioned that officers overheard Mills instructing Raviani to lie about the bruises.
Despite this, no arrest was made at the time.
Raviani later changed her story, and the police report was updated to describe the incident as a “family disturbance,” ultimately leading to no charges being filed.
Raviani’s Public Denial of Assault
Breaking her silence, Raviani spoke to the Daily Mail to clarify the situation.
“I’ve confirmed multiple times, and I’ll confirm again, no assault took place,” she stated.
She further confirmed her relationship with Mills, saying, “We’re in a relationship,” and added that this fact had been confirmed multiple times.
The media attention surrounding the incident also led to inquiries about Mills’ marriage.
The report included allegations about the circumstances of their marriage and cast doubt on Mills’ religious beliefs.
Mills’ Marriage and Faith Under Scrutiny
The Blaze report noted that Mills and Al Saadi were wed in an Islamic ceremony by a member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.
This raised questions about Mills’ faith, especially given his political stance as a Republican representative.
However, Raviani strongly rejected these claims, insisting that Mills is a devout Christian.
“I can confidently say that the claims made in the Blaze article are entirely untrue,” Raviani affirmed.
She went on to explain that she and Mills regularly pray together, both in private and public settings.
“He has not only attended church with my family and me, but we also pray together privately—just the two of us—where there would be no reason to pretend or perform for others,” she said.
Raviani also emphasized that Mills joins her in praying before meals, refuting any suggestions that he might be Muslim.
Spending Easter Abroad: A Shared Commitment
In a further effort to clarify their relationship, Raviani highlighted that she and Mills even spent Easter together in Turkey and Syria.
Mills was on an unofficial trip with Indiana Republican Rep. Marlin Stutzman, organized by the Syrian American Alliance for Peace and Prosperity.
Raviani posted photos of herself sitting next to Mills at a dinner in Turkey, reinforcing their bond.
When asked about the purpose of the trip, Raviani explained, “I’m an advocate for women’s rights in Iran and a free Iran.”
She added that the main reason for her travel was to spend Easter with Mills, emphasizing the personal nature of their relationship.
Moving Forward: What’s Next?
With both Raviani and Mills denying any wrongdoing, the situation remains unresolved.
Despite the intense media coverage and scrutiny, both individuals continue to stand by their statements.
As the investigation into the domestic dispute concludes without charges, it remains to be seen how this will affect Mills’ political career and personal life moving forward.
