Pasawm Lyhym, a 16-year-old boy looking forward to a movie night with his brother, was fatally stabbed at the Sunshine Station bus interchange.

The investigation is still ongoing, but the details that have emerged so far paint a horrifying picture of the attack.

Witnesses to a Shocking Incident

The boy’s cousin, who prefers to remain unnamed, shared the chilling account of witnessing the assault on Pasawm.

She was on a bus when she saw the devastating scene of someone stabbing her cousin.

An on-the-spot record captured by CCTV showed a man running through a nearby alley, wielding a large knife, around 3:39 pm on the fateful afternoon.

Family’s Agonizing Wait

Mawm, Pasawm’s older brother, recounted how he received news of the incident while he was at work.

Despite his initial disbelief, confirmations from Pasawm’s friends via Instagram convinced him of the unfortunate reality.

Mawm tried desperately to contact his brother, only to meet with an eerie silence from the other end.

He and his family stayed with Pasawm’s body for hours until the coroner arrived past midnight.

The Aftermath

Pasawm’s cousin later revealed to The Herald Sun her desperate attempts to get help during the attack, her scream for help echoing the suddenness of the incident.

Mawm remembered his brother as a kind and welcoming person, expressing the tragic unfairness of life.

As tributes in the form of flowers and candles poured in, Mawm implored the perpetrator to come forward and apologize to the grieving family.

His family remembered him as 'funny, really nice, a welcoming and kind person', and stayed by his body for hours until just after midnight when he was taken by the coroner

The Investigation

Police have now taken over the investigation into this senseless act of violence.

Pasawm, a student at Staughton College, often visited the interchange to meet friends after school.
