A tragic incident unfolded in Melbourne’s west, where a teenager’s casual day out turned into a nightmarish reality.
Pasawm Lyhym, a 16-year-old boy looking forward to a movie night with his brother, was fatally stabbed at the Sunshine Station bus interchange.
The investigation is still ongoing, but the details that have emerged so far paint a horrifying picture of the attack.

Witnesses to a Shocking Incident
The boy’s cousin, who prefers to remain unnamed, shared the chilling account of witnessing the assault on Pasawm.
She was on a bus when she saw the devastating scene of someone stabbing her cousin.
An on-the-spot record captured by CCTV showed a man running through a nearby alley, wielding a large knife, around 3:39 pm on the fateful afternoon.
Family’s Agonizing Wait
Mawm, Pasawm’s older brother, recounted how he received news of the incident while he was at work.
Despite his initial disbelief, confirmations from Pasawm’s friends via Instagram convinced him of the unfortunate reality.
Mawm tried desperately to contact his brother, only to meet with an eerie silence from the other end.
He and his family stayed with Pasawm’s body for hours until the coroner arrived past midnight.

The Aftermath
Pasawm’s cousin later revealed to The Herald Sun her desperate attempts to get help during the attack, her scream for help echoing the suddenness of the incident.
Mawm remembered his brother as a kind and welcoming person, expressing the tragic unfairness of life.
As tributes in the form of flowers and candles poured in, Mawm implored the perpetrator to come forward and apologize to the grieving family.

The Investigation
Police have now taken over the investigation into this senseless act of violence.
Pasawm, a student at Staughton College, often visited the interchange to meet friends after school.
His family, originally from Burma, had become a part of Melbourne’s Chin community since their arrival in Australia in 2013.
