Ferrari 296 GTB Crashes Into House After Narrowly Avoiding Elderly Pedestrian in São Paulov

A dramatic incident unfolded in São Paulo, Brazil, when a £445,000 Ferrari narrowly avoided hitting an elderly man before crashing into a house.

The driver of the yellow Ferrari 296 GTB lost control of the vehicle, which then slammed into the wall of a residence.

CCTV footage captured the entire chaotic moment, showing the car swerving dangerously before the collision.

Debris scattered across the road, and smoke billowed from the vehicle shortly after the crash.

Close Call for the Elderly Pedestrian

As the Ferrari sped down the street, it came frighteningly close to a retired man, who narrowly escaped being struck.

The crash, which left the car mangled, occurred outside a property where the car was reportedly being driven by an employee of a Ferrari dealership.

The homeowner, who was inside his house at the time, was startled by the loud crash.

“The house alarms went off, and we realized a brand new yellow Ferrari had crashed into our gate,” he recalled in shock.

Heroic Efforts to Assist the Driver

Moments after the accident, bystanders rushed to the scene to assist the driver.

Fortunately, the driver was not seriously injured, though he appeared disoriented.

“He was fine, just a little dizzy,” said the elderly pedestrian, who was relieved the driver seemed unharmed.

The driver was eventually helped from the wreckage and sat under a tree while awaiting further assistance.

Excessive Speed Before Losing Control

Authorities believe that the Ferrari was speeding above the legal limit when the driver lost control.

Speeding has been linked to numerous accidents involving high-performance cars, and this incident is no exception.

It serves as a reminder of the risks associated with driving luxury sports cars at high speeds.

Another High-Profile Ferrari Crash

This incident follows another eye-watering crash involving luxury cars.

Last year, a high-value crash in Austria was dubbed the most expensive crash of 2024. A £447,000 Ferrari 812 Superfast collided with a £4 million LaFerrari, and the chain reaction continued as a £1.4 million McLaren Elva and a £192,000 Bentley Continental GTC were also involved.

The crash, which occurred on a mountain road near Pfunds, Austria, in November, left all four luxury vehicles wedged against a rock face.

A police spokesperson explained that one of the drivers was blinded by the sun, causing him to brake suddenly.

Fortunately, none of the drivers, aged between 40 and 52, sustained any injuries, but authorities are investigating whether proper safety distances were maintained.

The incident stirred a flurry of comments online, with many users remarking on the exorbitant costs of the crash.

“Money can’t buy good sense,” one user quipped, while another added, “This accident will cost more in repairs than I will make in my entire life.”

The crashes serve as a stark reminder of the dangers that can come with high-speed driving, especially when combined with powerful, expensive vehicles.
