Father of Two Dies After Violent Attack Outside Wetherspoons Pub in Newcastle as Police Investigate Incident

A father of two has tragically passed away following an attack outside a Wetherspoons pub in Newcastle last week.

Darren Tulip, aged 43, sustained serious injuries after the incident at the Mile Castle pub on Grainger Street.

The Incident and Hospitalization

On the evening of Thursday, March 20, police rushed to the scene, where they found Mr. Tulip badly injured.

He received immediate medical attention at the pub before being taken to the hospital.

Despite the best efforts of healthcare professionals, Darren passed away on Tuesday, March 24, surrounded by his family.

The loss has left his loved ones devastated, and the grief is evident in the heartfelt messages shared by his family.

A Family’s Heartbreaking Tribute

A GoFundMe page set up by Darren’s family reveals the deep sorrow they feel over his untimely death.

Organised by his relative, Chloe Louise Tulip, the page describes Darren as someone who “loved to party” and had a large circle of friends who cared about him.

Chloe shared the family’s heartbreak, stating, “On March 20, 2025, we got a phone call that would devastate all of our lives.

Darren was involved in an incident that has now sadly taken his life.”

Remembering Darren and His Impact

Darren’s family reflects on his life as they mourn his loss.

He leaves behind four children, a devastated girlfriend, and a family that will forever miss him.

Chloe added, “Darren took his last breaths surrounded by people that adored him, and he grew his wings on Wednesday, March 25, 2025.”

As his family remembers his loud personality and love for life, they are determined to give him a fitting farewell.

The GoFundMe page emphasizes the desire for a grand send-off, with donations helping cover funeral costs and providing for his children, who will now grow up without their father.

“Everyone knows how much Darren loved a drink, so treat him to his final pint, and let’s give him the send-off he deserves,” Chloe said.

Investigation and Arrests Made

Northumbria Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Tomasz Fowler expressed the department’s sympathy for the family, stating, “Our thoughts are firmly with the family and loved ones of Darren who has sadly died.

Specially trained officers continue to support his next of kin at this extremely difficult time.”

Two men in their twenties have been arrested in connection with the attack, and authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
