Eyewitness Accounts
According to witnesses, Kyra attempted to cross the tracks between two tram carriages while the tram was stationary at a red light near the light rail stop in Chinatown.
Unfortunately, as the tram unexpectedly started moving, she became trapped under one of the carriages and was dragged along the road until the driver eventually stopped.
A Terrifying Ordeal
Mohammed Aqil Abdulla, a witness working at a nearby shop, recounted the horrifying screams he heard.
He revealed that the tram had dragged Kyra for approximately 200 meters, leaving her stuck between the compartments.
Mr. Abdulla explained that Kyra had intended to jump to the other side but was caught in between when the traffic lights changed suddenly.
Due to the driver’s limited visibility, he was unaware of her presence.
Witnesses desperately called for help, but despite the prompt arrival of police and paramedics, it was apparent that Kyra had lost her life at the scene.

Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry described the situation as difficult and tragic for the firefighters who arrived at the scene.
Despite their best efforts, there was nothing they could do to save Kyra.
