If you’ve ever braved the long, bumpy drive between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, you’ll know it’s far from ideal—especially for tourists or business travellers on a tight schedule.

But there’s good news: Fastjet Zimbabwe is stepping in to offer a much smoother and faster alternative.

Fastjet Unveils New Route to Boost Regional Travel

Starting Friday, 8 August 2025, Fastjet Zimbabwe will officially launch flights between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, operating four times a week.

Travellers can now look forward to catching flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, giving them more flexibility and reducing the need to rely on Zimbabwe’s often unreliable road network.

To service the route, the airline will deploy aircraft from its Embraer fleet, ensuring a comfortable, short-haul flying experience.

Filling the Gap Left by a Crumbling Road

This route hasn’t just been chosen randomly. The road linking Bulawayo to Vic Falls—two of Zimbabwe’s most vital cities—has been in terrible shape for years.

Tourists, in particular, have often raised concerns over the deteriorating conditions and the time it takes to travel by road.

Fastjet seems to have listened.

“This flight reinforces our presence in Bulawayo and supports the growing need for improved regional connectivity,” said Nunurai Ndawana, spokesperson for Fastjet Zimbabwe.

A Boost for Both Tourism and Business Travel

Ndawana emphasized that the new route is not only for tourists heading to Victoria Falls, but also for local professionals and corporate travelers who need to move between the manufacturing hub of Bulawayo and the tourism magnet that is Vic Falls.

“These scheduled flights give passengers more travel choices while cementing Fastjet’s role as a vital link in the Matabeleland region,” he said.

A Project That’s Been in the Pipeline for a While

According to Vivian Ruwuya, Fastjet Zimbabwe’s Chief Commercial Officer, this route wasn’t launched overnight.

“This has been a long time coming,” she said, explaining that the airline has been closely watching travel patterns and working closely with tourism and industry players before making the move.

She added that the new route is the result of ongoing consultations, which aimed to ensure the service aligns with both tourism demand and business travel needs.

When to Catch a Flight on the New Route

So, what’s the schedule looking like? Here’s what you need to know:

  • Flights leave Bulawayo at 13:25, touching down in Victoria Falls at 14:20.

  • The return leg departs Vic Falls at 14:50, landing back in Bulawayo by 15:45.

Perfect timing for a quick weekend getaway or a productive day trip.

Will This Change the Way You Travel in Zimbabwe?

With the addition of this route, local and international travellers now have a much easier way to move between two of Zimbabwe’s most important cities.

Whether you’re heading out for a safari adventure or closing a business deal, this could be a game-changer.
