What should have been a day of pure joy for Liverpool fans turned into a terrifying ordeal when a car suddenly drove into a crowd celebrating their Premier League victory.
Thousands had gathered in Liverpool city centre, excitedly taking part in the trophy parade, but shock quickly replaced celebration as chaos erupted.
The Moment the Car Ploughed Into Fans
Just after 6pm on Water Street, the mood changed drastically.
A grey people carrier sped through the packed streets, crashing into supporters who had been happily cheering moments before.
Witnesses described hearing the horrific sounds of people being hit and then seeing the vehicle push on despite attempts from the crowd to stop it by smashing its windows.
Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes, with police cordons, ambulances, and fire engines responding to the incident as crowds scrambled to safety.
Eyewitnesses Speak Out
Harry Rashid was close to the incident with his family.
He said the car came from near a parked ambulance and slammed into people in a narrow street.
“It was traveling so fast and just knocked people off the bonnet,” he recalled.
Despite the crowd trying to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and kept going, causing panic and injuries.
Chelsea Yuen described the crush of people and how she had to quickly pull her child out of the way as the car sped past.
“It must have been going about 30 miles per hour,” she said, noting the smashed windows from people trying to stop the driver.
