Eskom will reduce load in FOUR provinces, according to the latest news

Eskom will be implementing load reduction in Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape from 17:00 on Monday.

Eskom said it is implementing load reduction to avoid overloading its network and damage to its infrastructure in high-density areas that are prone to overloading.


The implementation of load reduction will take place from 17:00 until 20:00 however, times may differ in each province.

  • Ivory Park – Ivory Park ext 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12
  • Kaalfontein ext 7,
  • Lindokuhle ext 2,
  • Tswelopele ext 6,
  • Rabie Ridge and
  • Tembisa ext 5
  • Soweto – Braam Fischerville, Dobsonville, Doornkop, Dube, Glen Ridge, Meadowlands ext 11, Meadowlands zone 2, 4, 6 and 10, Mmesi Park, Protea Glen ext 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 15, Protea South, Orlando
  • West Rand – Fleurhof, Kagiso, Rand Leasses Gold Mine, Rietvallei, Robertville ext 1, 3, 4, 5, 10 and Stormill ext 9.

Eskom urged customers to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when supply returns.

“Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damages to household appliances when supply is restored.

“Customers from the affected areas are advised not to log a fault of ‘no supply’ during this period. Moreover, customers are advised not to confuse load reduction with load shedding.”
