Erling Haaland has committed his future to Manchester City in a landmark contract extension.

The Norwegian striker has signed a new 9.5-year deal, which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2034.

This new agreement makes Haaland’s contract the longest ever in Premier League history.

Previously, Haaland’s contract was set to expire in June 2027, but he has now pledged to stay with the club for nearly another decade.

This extension surpasses the previous record held by Cole Palmer, who signed a nine-year deal with Chelsea.

Reports suggest that Haaland’s new salary will be a staggering £500,000 (around R11.4 million) per week, reflecting his importance to the club.

The announcement was made on Manchester City’s official social media account, with the club expressing their excitement about Haaland’s decision. “Erling’s here to stay!” the post read.

“We’re thrilled to announce Erling Haaland has extended his contract at City to 2034.”

Haaland’s Impact Since Joining City

Haaland’s arrival at Manchester City in 2022 was a game-changer.

He made an immediate impact, scoring 52 goals in all competitions during his first season, helping the club achieve a historic treble—winning the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup.

Last season, he continued his impressive form, netting 38 goals to help City secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

To date, Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for the club.

While Haaland’s new contract is undoubtedly a major boost for Manchester City, the club is currently facing a difficult season.

They sit in sixth place in the Premier League, trailing leaders Liverpool by 12 points.

Moreover, Manchester City is awaiting the outcome of a significant disciplinary case, where they are under investigation for more than 100 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules. The club has denied all the charges.

Despite these challenges, Haaland’s decision to extend his contract is seen as a strong vote of confidence in the club’s future.

It follows shortly after Pep Guardiola’s own contract renewal, where he signed a two-year deal in November 2023.
