Encourage Science Initiative offers up to ₦100,000 to support STEM undergraduates conducting final-year research projects in Nigerian universities

The Encourage Science Initiative (ESI) is offering the Undergraduate Research Grant 2025, designed to financially support STEM students at Nigerian universities as they carry out their final-year research projects.

This grant aims to encourage innovation, strengthen research skills, and empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and tech leaders.


Who Can Apply

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a STEM undergraduate enrolled in a Nigerian university

  • Be in their final year by the application deadline

  • Have a minimum CGPA of Second Class Upper

  • Submit a personal statement (maximum 250 words) describing the research project, its justification, and a proposed budget of no more than ₦100,000

  • Provide a recommendation letter from their project supervisor


What the Grant Offers

Selected students will receive up to ₦100,000 to fund their final-year research projects.

The grant is intended to cover essential project expenses and provide financial support to help students complete their work successfully.


Duration of the Award

The ESI Undergraduate Research Grant is a one-time award, covering the entire period of the final-year research project, from September 2025 to February 2026.
