Emergency crews respond to a devastating collision that kills three Bolton teenagers and a taxi driver after a Seat Leon collides with a Citroen

A quiet Sunday morning in Bolton turned devastating when a high-speed collision claimed four lives.

CCTV footage has captured the horrifying moment a head-on crash occurred between a private hire taxi and a red Seat Leon, leaving the community in shock.

Lives Lost in the Collision

The crash, which happened around 12:45 a.m. on Wigan Road, resulted in the deaths of three teenagers, aged 18 and 19, traveling in the Seat Leon.

The victims have been identified as Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, Farhan Patel, and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, all local to Bolton.

Also killed was Mosrab Ali, a man in his 50s from Blackburn, believed to be the driver of the Citroen C4 Picasso taxi.

Formal identification is still pending, but the tragedy has already sent ripples through the local community.

CCTV Shows High-Speed Impact

Distressing CCTV footage from a nearby property shows the red Seat Leon speeding along the wrong side of a 30mph road.

The taxi is seen traveling normally when the Seat collides with it head-on.

The impact causes the Seat to spin across the carriageway, sending debris flying and smashing into a parked car before finally coming to a stop.

Five passengers were injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Community Reaction and Support

Residents described hearing a “very loud bang” and seeing emergency crews perform CPR on the roadside.

The Bolton Council of Mosques released a statement asking the public to pray for the families of the deceased, confirming that they were closely supporting relatives and coordinating with authorities.

Road Closure and Police Investigation

The road remained closed for more than 14 hours as officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit worked at the scene.

Both vehicles, heavily damaged, were removed by the afternoon.

Chief Inspector Helen McCormack described the scene as “challenging” and emphasized that the incident serves as a sobering reminder of road safety across Bolton and Greater Manchester.

Possible High-Speed Factor

Police are aware of a Snapchat video circulating online showing a car traveling at 120mph, though it’s not yet confirmed whether it is linked to this crash.

Firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene with three appliances and spent around two hours extracting injured passengers from the vehicles.

Local Concerns About Road Safety

Residents near the crash site described Wigan Road as a hotspot for speeding and previous collisions.

One eyewitness said his wife’s parked car was damaged during the crash and criticized the lack of speed control measures like speed bumps.

“The other car was traveling on the wrong side of the road and went straight into the taxi,” he said, recalling the chaos that followed.

Another nearby resident said she woke to a loud bang and witnessed emergency services working frantically to save lives.

She added, “It shouldn’t take four fatalities before anything is done. Crashes happen here all the time.”

Political Response and Community Support

Green Party Councillor Hanif Alli called the crash “a needless and tragic loss of life,” while Councillor Ayyub Patel reassured the public that no police chase was involved, debunking rumors circulating online.

Both emphasized the need for community patience as the investigation continues.

Police Appeal for Information

Greater Manchester Police urged anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the Seat before the crash, or has dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

They can be contacted directly on 0161 856 4741, quoting log 111, or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Chief Inspector McCormack concluded: “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the families and everyone affected.

Road safety remains our priority, but one life lost is always one too many.”
