Ekurhuleni Police Arrest Three Suspects in Thembisa After Seizing 250 SASSA Cards

In a collaborative effort between various law enforcement units, three male suspects were arrested in Ekurhuleni for possessing 250 SASSA cards.

The suspects, aged between 38 and 47, were caught during an operational operation involving the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU), the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit Region E, and Gautrans Special Law Enforcement Unit.

Suspects Apprehended on Andrew Mapheto Drive

The joint team, conducting routine operational duties, stopped a vehicle they suspected of being involved in criminal activity on Andrew Mapheto Drive in Thembisa.

During the search of the vehicle, officers discovered a significant number of SASSA cards—totaling 250.

One Suspect Confesses to Fraudulent Use of SASSA Cards

Upon further questioning, one of the suspects admitted to using the SASSA cards for fraudulent activities.

This confession led to the immediate arrest of all three individuals.

They were subsequently detained at the Thembisa Police Station.
