Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old senior adviser at the Department of Government Efficiency, has spoken out for the first time about his role at the agency, offering insights into his work and the ongoing challenges he’s tackling.
Known by his X-rated nickname “Big Balls,” Coristine shared his perspective during a roundtable discussion with Fox News’ Jesse Watters.
The young protégé, who works in the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Technology and the Office of Personnel Management, gave the public a rare glimpse into the agency’s mission.
Tackling Fraud and Waste in the Government
Coristine’s job, he explained, revolves around addressing fraud and waste within the government.
As part of his work, Coristine and his colleagues focus on improving transparency in payment systems.
He explained that despite massive expenditures, there is often little understanding of where the money actually goes.
“For the majority of payment systems, we don’t really know,” he shared. “You look at a specific line item, say $20 million, and you wonder—what is it actually going to?”
He pointed out that the lack of accountability in government spending is a significant issue.
“There’s no incentive to respect taxpayer dollars if you work in the government,” Coristine added, emphasizing that the inefficiencies in financial systems could be avoided if proper checks were in place.
His solution lies in creating incentives that drive government employees to take fiscal responsibility seriously.
The Origins of the ‘Big Balls’ Nickname
Coristine also took the opportunity to reflect on how he earned his now-famous nickname.
He recalled the incident during his junior year at Rye Country Day School, a private school in New York.
According to him, a bored classmate started passing a note around, which eventually reached Coristine.
He drew a phallic image on the note and wrote “BIG BALLS,” a prank that would become part of his legacy.
“Honestly, I didn’t think anyone would know,” he laughed, explaining how he later made it his LinkedIn name, a move that turned heads in the professional world.
Musk’s Final Days at the White House
This interview also marks a significant moment in the Department of Government Efficiency’s timeline, as it comes just after Elon Musk’s departure from the White House.
Musk, who had led the team in its mission to reduce government waste, reflected on the agency’s work in his final days.
The roundtable discussion highlighted some of the group’s most notable findings, including alleged fraud within the Social Security Administration.
Musk and his team claimed that people over 120 years old were still receiving benefits, an assertion that has been widely disputed.
Despite some contentious claims, Musk and his staff remained firm in their belief that the government was riddled with inefficiencies and fraud.
They discussed a particular instance involving the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), which they argued used only 58% of its $50 million annual budget for its intended purposes, with the rest going to management and administrative costs.
The Continued Mission to Combat Government Waste
Although Musk is stepping back from his leadership role, Coristine and the rest of the team are committed to continuing the mission.
According to Musk, the effort to eliminate fraud and waste is a long-term project.
“If we take our eye off the ball, the waste and fraud will come roaring back,” he cautioned.
As Musk’s staffers prepare to carry on his work, it’s clear that the focus on government accountability and efficiency will remain at the forefront of their agenda.
Through their dedication, Coristine and his colleagues are determined to ensure that government spending is transparent, efficient, and ultimately serves the taxpayers.
Whether or not they can succeed in cleaning up the system remains to be seen, but their efforts have certainly stirred up conversation about the state of government accountability.
