Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made it clear that he wants a quick solution to the ongoing distraction caused by Alexander Isak’s self-imposed absence.

The Swedish striker’s desire to leave the club, reportedly for Liverpool, has created a noticeable tension around St James’ Park.

Fans Voice Their Frustration

Supporters made their feelings known during Saturday’s goalless draw at Aston Villa, chanting, “there’s only one greedy b******.”

Isak’s absence was felt on the pitch, as Newcastle struggled to convert chances without their star forward.

Howe Calls for Clarity

Howe explained that both he and the club are eager for clarity on Isak’s future. “We would like a resolution,” Howe said.

“I am talking about myself, the ownership, and the players. We need that clarity. You don’t need any distraction.

But I am not in control of that. I think only one person really—Isak—can control that.”

He added that any season is challenging enough without additional distractions.

“I hope it’s resolved quickly because it’s news around us all the time.

The players have managed to shut that out and perform, and we have to continue to do that.”

Supporters Are Free to Express Themselves

When asked about the fan chants directed at Isak, Howe praised Newcastle supporters for backing the team through thick and thin.

“Whatever happens, I think the support has acted really well today because they supported the team, which is always my big ask,” he said.

“And then if afterwards they want to say something, I think they’re very free to do that.”

The Door Remains Open for Isak

Howe reiterated that Isak is welcome to return to the squad, but stressed that the decision lies with the player.

“Nothing has changed, but the door is well and truly open.

But yeah, he has to decide what he wants to do,” Howe said.

Focus on the Season Ahead

With the distraction still looming, Howe and his squad are determined to keep their focus on the season ahead.

The manager is counting on his team to perform consistently, regardless of the off-field drama, as Newcastle aims to navigate another challenging campaign.
