The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders delivered more than just a football game on Saturday night – they served up a full-blown showdown that erupted into a chaotic brawl.
With under five minutes remaining, tempers boiled over, turning the NFC East clash into a spectacle that fans won’t soon forget.
At the time, the Eagles were comfortably ahead 29-10, and the scuffle ignited moments after Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley capped a two-point conversion.
What started as typical on-field chippiness quickly escalated into punches flying from both sides.
Tyler Steen at the Center of the Storm
Eagles guard Tyler Steen, wearing No. 56, quickly became the focal point.
Swinging hard, he found himself surrounded by a swarm of Commanders players.
The defensive pushback was fierce, and it took several teammates and officials to finally separate the players.
Once the dust settled, Steen was ejected along with Commanders defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and safety Quan Martin.
Fox commentator Joe Davis captured the drama perfectly, noting: “The chippiness has turned into a full-on shoving match.
This is getting ugly. Look out, Tyler Steen is throwing punches.”
Fans React with Humor and Amazement
Unsurprisingly, social media erupted with reactions.
Many viewers couldn’t stop comparing Steen’s ferocity to the boxing ring antics of Jake Paul, who had faced Anthony Joshua just a day earlier.
One fan joked: “Tyler Steen landed more punches than Jake Paul.”
Another suggested a crossover bout: “Next Netflix fight? Tyler Steen vs. Jake Paul.”
The consensus? Steen had fearlessly taken on the entire Commanders defense by himself.
Steen was eventually escorted from the field by the Eagles’ beloved security officer, Dom DiSandro, affectionately known to fans as ‘Big Dom.’
Eagles Clinch NFC East Amid Distractions
Despite the chaos, the Eagles kept their focus on the win, defeating Washington 29-18.
The victory not only secured the NFC East title for Philadelphia but also ended the Dallas Cowboys’ hopes of reaching the playoffs.
For the Commanders, the season has taken a harsh turn.
Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was already sidelined for the year, and backup Marcus Mariota sustained an injury during the game.
Mariota exited after the opening drive of the second half, was evaluated for a concussion, and later cleared, though he remained questionable due to a right-hand injury.
Third-string quarterback Josh Johnson had to step in against the Super Bowl champions.
Barkley Shows He’s Back in Form
Amid the drama, Saquon Barkley stole the spotlight for all the right reasons.
The running back appeared to be regaining the explosive form that made him a star last season, finishing with 132 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, including a signature 49-yard dash.
Reflecting on the heated atmosphere after his two-point conversion, Barkley told reporters: “This team don’t like us and we don’t like them either. It’s chippy out there. We have a lot of history. It’s the truth.”
