What was supposed to be a normal drive home turned into a terrifying scene for actor Dylan Walsh and his family.
The Nip/Tuck star, best known for his role as Dr. Sean McNamara, was caught on police bodycam looking visibly shaken after crashing his car into two utility poles in Rumson, New Jersey, last month.
Shocking Footage of the Aftermath
In the bodycam video obtained by the Daily Mail, the 61-year-old actor appeared dazed and confused as police questioned him.
His wife, Leslie Bourque-Walsh, was in visible distress, drifting in and out of consciousness while crying out in pain from her chest.
Officers rushed to help her to safety, pleading with her to stay awake as she fainted on the sidewalk.
Police Arrive at a Chaotic Scene
Responding officers reported finding Walsh’s black 2022 Ford Explorer severely damaged and pinned against a utility pole.
The crash was so forceful that another pole had been snapped in half, left dangling dangerously from live wires.
Along with Walsh and his wife, two juveniles and another adult woman were also inside the SUV when it crashed.
Walsh’s Own Account of the Accident
When questioned by police, Walsh admitted he had been drinking earlier at the Mule Barn Tavern after spending the day at the beach in Sandy Hook.
He told officers he couldn’t explain exactly what led to the crash, only that he “looked down” and then suddenly everything spiraled.
Witnesses also claimed the car had been swerving into oncoming traffic before colliding with the poles.
Open Containers Found in the Vehicle
The police report revealed that officers discovered a cooler bag in the SUV packed with hard seltzers, some of which were already opened.
Authorities noted that Walsh looked “very red” and “very confused” at the scene.
Although his voluntary blood test showed he was under the legal alcohol limit, police still cited him for six violations, including reckless driving, driving on a sidewalk, and possessing an open container of alcohol.
Family Left Shaken and Injured
Leslie was the most visibly injured, clutching her chest in pain before fainting.
Officers at the scene believed she was in shock. Fortunately, despite the chaos, everyone involved survived the crash.
Walsh’s rep later clarified that he had suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel.
A Statement of Gratitude After the Scare
Three days later, on August 20, Walsh’s representative released a statement saying the family was safely back home.
They expressed deep gratitude to Rumson Police, firefighters, EMS crews, Riverview Medical Center staff, and even the management of the nearby River Pointe Inn for stepping in to help immediately after the accident.
Walsh’s Personal Life and Family
Walsh, who is a father of five, has a blended family from his past marriages.
His oldest children, Thomas and Joanna, came from his marriage to actress Melora Walters.
He also shares daughter Stella with actress Joanna Going, his second wife.
In 2022, he married Leslie Bourque, and together they are raising daughter Amelia and son Hudson.
A Career That Made Him a Familiar Face
Beyond the crash headlines, Walsh has built a solid acting career.
From 2003 to 2010, he starred in all 100 episodes of FX’s hit series Nip/Tuck.
Over the years, he’s also appeared on shows like Blue Bloods, Law & Order: SVU, Superman & Lois, and Life Sentence.
His film credits include We Were Soldiers, Deadly Switch, Alter Ego, and Betsy’s Wedding.
Looking Ahead After the Accident
For now, Walsh seems to be focusing on his recovery and his family.
While the crash left both physical and emotional scars, his family’s survival has been the central message from those close to him.
As he recovers, fans are left waiting to see what his next professional steps will be once life settles back into normalcy.
