DStv price increase: Here’s what South Africans will be paying from April 2022

MultiChoice has stated that there will be another DStv price increase in 2022, with subscription costs for five of their six official bouquets increasing on April 1st.
Price increases for DStv in 2022 – how much extra will we pay?
According to MultiChoice, a 2.7 percent increase across all packages is a fair and proportional response to current inflation rates. They claim that all individual increases are BELOW official CPI figures, yet for families already struggling to make ends meet, this will mean very little.
Those hoping for a price freeze were left bitterly disappointed on Tuesday, however, when the network went public with its new price structure. Nyiko Shiburi, MultiChoice South Africa chief executive, described the hikes as ‘minimal’.
Which customers have been hit worse?
DStv Premium customers getaway with the smallest increase, and R10 will be added to their bills when April rolls around. That’s a rise of just 1.21%. Those with a Compact Plus Subscription will also only have to find an extra R10 each month, going up by 1.86% in the process.
The highest monetary increase is felt by those with the Compact package, though. An additional R20 per month will be charged to the billpayer in the next financial year. DStv Family and DStv Access customers will be paying R14 and R5 more respectively. The EasyView bouquet, however, remains unchanged for 2022.
