DSTG Calls For Synergy Between Host Communities And Service Providers

In order to ensure the realization of Prosperity for All Deltans agenda of the Okowa administration, the Delta State Government has urged Ugbakele Community of Mosogar, in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, to cooperate with the state government to ensure the smooth implementation of the CBN 5 Star Cassava Development Program cited in the community.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Julius Egbedi made the call while addressing newsmen at the close of a meeting with stakeholders of the community.

At the meeting which had in attendance the Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaiah Bozimo; Commissioner for Environment, Hon Chris Onogba and Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Barr. Kate Onianwa, Chief Egbedi reminded the community that they stand to gain more from the project which is cited in their land as it would bring development and help the benefiting farmers to improve their standard of living.

Speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Chris Onogba, who thanked the agric commissioner for initiating the round table meeting to iron out the differences called on the community to partner with the state government to ensure the success of the project as they stand to gain a lot in terms of employment and development.

Also, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr Kate Onianwa, advised the community to protect the project equipment placed in their care as that would go a long way in building trust and attracting more projects to the community.

The Chief Executive of Nigeria Agricultural Mechanism and Equipment Leasing (NAMEL), Dr Ahmed Adekunle, the consultant to the project, stated that the CBN 5 Star Accelerated Cassava programme, was an offshoot of the CBN Anchor Borrower’s Scheme, where the land to be used would be cleared and made ready for farming, stressing that the land in question remained the property of the people and that its ownership was not in contention.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, the Community CLO, Chief Blessing Agboma, thanked the state government for the timely intervention and promised that the community would cooperate with the state government.

Chief Agboma said that the community would ensure the success of the project toward the realisation of the Stronger Delta agenda of Governor Okowa administration as well as better the lives of members of the community.
