Drug Dealer Aden Maynard Caught Red-Handed in Tunbridge Wells as Police Seize £30k Worth of Illegal Substances and Cash

On July 13, 2024, police in Kent encountered a 21-year-old drug dealer in a woodland area near Tunbridge Wells.

Aden Maynard, who had been acting suspiciously outside a house on Hornbean Avenue, was first noticed after officers were called to a disturbance in the area.

Wearing a shoulder bag, Maynard spotted the officers and quickly ran into the nearby woods, triggering a chase.

The Discovery of Hidden Drugs

As the officers closed in, Maynard was found without his shoulder bag and tried to explain his actions by claiming he was “simply out enjoying a walk.”

However, his story didn’t add up. Police dog Charlie was brought in to help with the search, leading officers to a hidden spot near an abandoned fridge in the woods.

There, they uncovered the bag concealed in some brambles.

Inside, they found a significant stash of drugs, including cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis, worth an estimated £30,000.

The bag also contained over £1,400 in cash, phones, and a lock knife.

Further Evidence Uncovered

Following his arrest, police reviewed one of the phones recovered from the scene, linking it to a drug network known as the “AD line.”

Additional evidence surfaced after officers examined CCTV footage from shops in Swanley and Westerham.

The footage showed Maynard topping up the phone, further solidifying his connection to the drug operation.

A sales receipt found in his bag led investigators to a store in Orpington, southeast London, where security cameras captured him purchasing a TV and oven.

Maynard’s Guilty Plea and Sentence

Maynard, who had no fixed address, later pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including being concerned in the supply of cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis.

He also admitted to possessing drugs with intent to supply, carrying a knife in public, and possessing criminal property (the seized cash).

On December 2, 2024, he was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Maidstone Crown Court.

Police Praise for Successful Operation

PC James Heaver commented on the operation, stating, “Maynard was clearly panicked about what we would find.

After a thorough search, PD Charlie quickly led us to the bag, making this a significant drug seizure.

Maynard’s phone provided solid proof of his involvement in a larger network, distributing drugs to multiple users.”
