During the Oscars red carpet interview, Grant gave short answers back to Graham and seemingly rolled his eyes after it wrapped. Many viewers noticed his behavior, including Piers Morgan, who criticized him for it.
However, Barrymore came to his defense during an episode of her talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
She shared that if you know Grant, his behavior is just his way of showing love. Barrymore also mentioned that the grumpy Hugh is the real Hugh, and people end up falling in love with him despite his grumpiness. She went on to say that he is a hilarious and good human being.
Barrymore’s response came after Grant’s comment about her singing in the 2007 film they starred in together, called “Music and Lyrics.”
In an interview with Wired, Grant said that she had a “horrendous” singing voice. Barrymore took it in stride and posted a video on her Instagram page, singing the song from the movie into a hairbrush and inviting others to join her in singing for Hugh Grant.
Since his appearance at the 2023 Oscars, Grant hasn’t spoken publicly about his encounter with Graham. He appeared on “The View” a few days later, but the talk show’s hosts didn’t ask him about the red carpet incident, which was criticized on social media.
Graham, on the other hand, had something to say when asked about it by TMZ. She replied that her mother told her to kill people with kindness, so that’s what she’s doing.
