The Epstein scandal might be fueling endless speculation online, but Donald Trump seems completely over it.
Instead of engaging with the ongoing uproar, he’s brushing off the whole thing as old news — and even “boring.”
Trump Dismisses Ongoing Curiosity About Epstein Files
While conspiracy theories surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s case continue to dominate headlines and stir up controversy, Trump made it clear he’s not buying into the hype.
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Maryland on Air Force One, the former president said bluntly, “He’s been dead a long time. I don’t get why people are still obsessed.”
He seemed genuinely puzzled when asked why his most devoted supporters — the MAGA crowd — were especially outraged over how the case has been handled.
“It’s sordid, sure,” he admitted, “but pretty boring stuff.”
Frustration Builds Among MAGA Supporters Over Sealed Files
Despite Trump’s indifference, many in his base feel betrayed.
They expected transparency — especially after Attorney General Pam Bondi had previously hinted that she had seen Epstein’s so-called “client list.”
At one point, Bondi even claimed the list was sitting on her desk, raising hopes that justice might finally be served.
But those hopes were dashed when a recent memo from the FBI and Department of Justice declared that no more information would be released.
According to the memo, there was no “client list” in the files and nothing more that warranted disclosure.
Even though the materials reportedly contain over a thousand hours of video evidence related to Epstein’s abuse crimes, officials insist it’s not appropriate to release them.
Trump’s Shifting Tone Leaves MAGA Movement Divided
For a man who once suggested he’d gladly look into Epstein’s connections and supported theories about a broader cover-up, Trump’s recent remarks are a stark contrast.
Now he claims only “bad people and fake news” want to keep the story alive.
Yet, at the same time, he’s tried to appease critics by telling Bondi to release anything “credible.”
It’s a careful balancing act — especially since some of his biggest MAGA appointments have promoted the same Epstein theories he now wants to ignore.
Behind the Scenes Drama: Bondi vs. Bongino
Things got even more dramatic behind closed doors.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, a longtime Trump loyalist and outspoken voice on corruption, reportedly clashed with Bondi over the decision not to release the files.
According to sources, Bongino hasn’t been seen at work since a heated argument on July 9.
“He’s absolutely furious,” a source told NBC News.
“He feels betrayed and is threatening to go public if Bondi isn’t fired.”
The tension appears to have reached Trump, too.
Though he praised Bongino publicly, sources say he privately sided with Bondi in the dispute.
Trump Tries to Shift Focus to “More Important” Matters
Trying to redirect attention, Trump took to Truth Social to praise the state of the country under his leadership and downplay the Epstein case entirely.
“Let’s not waste time and energy on someone nobody cares about,” he wrote, calling Epstein irrelevant to America’s future.
He also claimed Bondi had only given a “brief” update about the files and reiterated he wasn’t named in any of them.
Without evidence, Trump even accused former FBI Director James Comey, Barack Obama, and President Biden of manufacturing the documents, calling them “fake” and politically motivated.
GOP Blocks Democrat Push to Unseal Epstein Documents
On Capitol Hill, the tension boiled over when Republicans moved to block a Democratic proposal that would have forced the release of the Epstein records.
GOP lawmakers argued the documents had been sealed under past administrations, including Joe Biden’s, and that there was no reason to change course now.
Still, back in February, Bondi told Fox News a “client list” was being reviewed on her desk.
Her office later clarified that she was referencing Epstein-related materials more broadly, not an actual list of clients.
Epstein Theories Continue to Thrive Among MAGA Figures
Even though Trump is eager to move on, some of his most prominent supporters aren’t letting go.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Megyn Kelly have all pushed back, demanding the full truth be revealed.
Among MAGA circles, Epstein’s 2019 prison death is still widely believed to be suspicious.
Many doubt the official explanation of suicide and are convinced there’s more to uncover.
A Complicated Relationship With Epstein
Trump’s connection to Epstein has always been a source of intrigue.
They were once friendly neighbors in Florida, and in a 2002 interview, Trump said, “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
But once Trump entered the political spotlight, he distanced himself.
He later said they had a falling out and insisted he had no ties to Epstein’s criminal activities.
Where It All Stands Now
So, what’s next? Trump is clearly eager to close the chapter on Epstein.
But with internal divisions in the MAGA movement, ongoing public demands for transparency, and lawmakers still battling over the files, it’s not likely this story will vanish anytime soon.
While Trump insists there’s nothing interesting left to uncover, the Epstein case — and the secrets it may or may not hold — continues to divide his allies and frustrate his base.
Whether the files will ever be released in full remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: not everyone is ready to drop the subject just yet.
