Donald Trump stirred the political pot once again, this time with a bizarre AI-generated video targeting top Democrats.
The clip, which digitally added a sombrero and mustache to House and Senate leaders, declared that “nobody likes us anymore,” drawing swift reactions from the lawmakers involved.
The Video’s Content Sparks Outrage
The edited footage features Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
In the AI-altered clip, Schumer is made to criticize his own party, claiming voters have abandoned Democrats over “woke, trans bulls***” policies, while Jeffries stands silently, donning a sombrero and mustache, set to the Mexican Hat Dance.
Trump posted the video on Truth Social following Monday’s White House negotiations, which aimed to avoid a potential government shutdown.
Many saw the video as Trump venting his frustration with the Democratic side at the negotiating table.
Democrats Respond to the Mockery
Both Schumer and Jeffries quickly responded to the video online.
Schumer tweeted, “If you think your shutdown is a joke, it just proves what we all know: You can’t negotiate.
You can only throw tantrums.” Meanwhile, Jeffries emphasized policy over theatrics, stating, “Bigotry will get you nowhere. Cancel the Cuts. Lower the Cost. Save Healthcare. We are NOT backing down.”
Tense White House Negotiations
Earlier on Monday, Trump met with Congressional leaders, including Schumer, Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The talks, however, produced little progress, with Schumer criticizing Republicans for refusing to concede on healthcare spending.
He accused them of creating a “healthcare crisis” due to cuts to Medicare.
Jeffries echoed the urgency, emphasizing that Democrats were “deadly serious” about addressing the healthcare issues they believe Republicans caused.
Vance also predicted a government shutdown this week, pointing to what he called “unrealistic” Democratic spending demands.
Government Shutdown Looms
If Congress cannot pass a funding resolution, the government will officially shut down at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.
The vice president condemned the use of shutdown threats as a negotiation tactic, warning that it puts Americans at risk.
The Trump administration has prepared for the worst. The Office of Management and Budget issued guidance to federal agencies to maintain essential services with minimal staff.
A memo emphasized that the administration remains hopeful Democrats will avoid triggering a shutdown, but outlined steps to ensure critical operations continue if negotiations fail.
