Labor Day weekend brought more than just barbecues and family time — it also sparked a whirlwind of online speculation about Donald Trump’s health.
Donald Trump Jr., concerned after seeing viral rumors suggesting his father had passed away, decided to call and check in personally.
“I called my father over the weekend and was like, ‘Hey, just want to make sure you’re not dead,’” Don Jr. told Newsmax.
He added with a chuckle, “‘I know my daughter’s playing golf with you as we speak, you know, I keep reading about it on Twitter, so I just want to make sure.’
He didn’t even know what I was talking about.”
A Low-Key Weekend Sparks Speculation
Trump, 79, had a quiet Labor Day weekend with no formal public appearances, which fueled theories online that his health was failing — and some even claimed he had already died.
To counter the rumors, Trump shared a photo on Truth Social, seemingly as proof of life, showing himself alongside former NFL coach Jon Gruden on the golf course.
However, eagle-eyed social media users noticed discrepancies.
Gruden couldn’t be confirmed at the golf course that day, and an outfit in the photo appeared to match one he wore a week earlier, prompting further speculation about the authenticity of the weekend image.
Golfing With Granddaughter Kai
Don Jr. clarified the situation, confirming that Trump was indeed out on the course — but he was accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai, not Gruden.
The truth, it seems, was far more mundane than the viral rumors suggested: Trump was simply enjoying a round of golf with family while taking some downtime over the holiday.
Trump Addresses the Rumors
On Tuesday, Trump held a press conference to put the speculation to rest.
When asked about the online frenzy, he called it “sort of crazy” and emphasized that he had been “very active this Labor Day.”
He also compared media coverage of himself to that of President Joe Biden, noting that a two-day break in public appearances sparked far more concern than similar periods in Biden’s schedule.
Addressing Health Concerns
Despite some visible bruising on his hand, Trump’s physician reassured the public that it was nothing serious.
The marks reportedly resulted from frequent handshakes and aspirin use as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention routine.
Earlier in July, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, which causes mild swelling in the lower legs.
His doctor described the condition as “benign and common” among elderly individuals, with no evidence of serious arterial disease.
Life Behind the Headlines
What started as viral panic online turned out to be a reminder of how quickly social media speculation can spiral.
Between golfing with his granddaughter and attending routine medical checkups, Trump appears to be continuing his usual activities — much to the relief of family and supporters alike.
