On Monday night, social media was buzzing with excitement as users shared their thoughts on President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump dancing with servicemembers at the Commander in Chief Ball in Washington, D.C.
The event, which was held to honor the U.S. military, marked a celebration for the Trumps as they embarked on a second term in the White House.
A Night to Remember for the Trumps and the Military
The Commander in Chief Ball was a highlight of inauguration night, with President Trump dancing with a sergeant from the newly formed U.S. Space Force, and Melania sharing a dance with a member of the Honor Guard.
Both service members, however, have yet to be publicly identified by the military.
The ball, which honors all six branches of the U.S. military, was attended by the newly sworn-in president and first lady, along with the vice-presidential couple, JD and Usha Vance.
Social Media Reacts to the Couple’s Charismatic Performance
Social media users were quick to comment on the couple’s display of affection for the military, with many praising Melania’s bright smile as she danced with a young armed services member.
“Melania just started dancing with a young armed services member, and I’ve never seen her smile so big,” one user commented.
Another added, “I want someone who smiles at me like Melania smiled at the service member who came to dance with her.”
The Trumps’ Night Continues at Multiple Balls
After attending the Commander in Chief Ball, the Trumps made their way to the nearby Liberty Ball, where they danced onstage with their family.
The night wasn’t over yet, as they then traveled to Union Station for the Starlight Ball, continuing their celebrations.
At te Liberty Ball, Trump addressed the crowd, stating, “We needed three because we have such support.”
Melania Shines in Custom Gown
Melania stole the spotlight in a stunning white-and-black custom gown by designer Hervé Pierre, who also created her 2017 inaugural outfit.
The couple’s first dance to “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” played by the United States Marine Band, set the tone for a night filled with tradition and celebration.
After their slow dance, the Trumps were joined by Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, before sharing more dances with members of the military.
Lighthearted Moments and Farewells
As the evening continued, President Trump entertained the crowd by conversing with troops stationed in South Korea via satellite.
The fun didn’t stop there, as Trump used a saber to cut into an Air Force One cake onstage, modeled after his design for the presidential aircraft.
The cake had a special meaning, as President Joe Biden had scrapped the design.
The night wrapped up with lively music from acts like Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jason Aldean, while the crowd awaited the Trumps’ departure.
Trump even had a lighthearted moment dancing with the sabers before heading off, to the amusement of Vice President Vance, who joked, “The Secret Service is getting very nervous.”
It was a memorable evening, marking a celebration of both the Trumps’ return to office and the service members who play a crucial role in defending the country.
