After spending nine years with Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set to move on.
The striker’s future at the club is uncertain as talks over a new contract seem to have stalled.
At 28 years old, Calvert-Lewin is now a free agent and exploring new opportunities, including a potential move to Italy, though he remains open to offers elsewhere.
Struggles on the Pitch and Contract Talks Breakdown
Last season was tough for Calvert-Lewin — injuries limited him to just three league goals, a significant dip for the forward.
Meanwhile, Everton has been busy negotiating contracts with other players like Seamus Coleman and Idrissa Gueye, but Calvert-Lewin’s talks apparently hit a dead end.
The club confirmed they’re still in contact with his representatives but the striker’s future feels increasingly distant from Goodison Park.
Calvert-Lewin Opens Up About His Ambitions
In a recent chat on the High Performance Podcast, Calvert-Lewin expressed his deep respect for Everton but made it clear his ambitions are pushing him toward a new chapter.
“I have a long history with Everton and a lot of respect for the club,” he said, “but the main thing for me now is wanting to win.
After the last few seasons, it’s been about survival.”
He went on to share his dream of playing in a “winning environment” where he can compete at the highest levels.
“I started my career wanting to play in the Premier League, represent England in major tournaments, and play in the Champions League.
I’ve ticked some of those boxes, but the Champions League is still something I want to achieve,” he explained.
Chasing Champions League Glory and England Recall
Calvert-Lewin highlighted that the chance to join a club competing in the Champions League would boost his chances of returning to the England squad.
He currently has 11 caps and four goals for the national team but hasn’t played for England since the Euro 2021 final run.
“Playing in the Champions League and at World Cups or Euros is the level I’m striving for,” he said.
“That’s the kind of environment where I want to be, to score goals and show I belong at that elite level.”
What’s Next for Everton’s Longtime Striker?
As things stand, Calvert-Lewin’s Everton career looks like it might be coming to an end, opening the door for a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Whether Italy or another league beckons, the forward is focused on finding a club that matches his ambition and desire to win trophies.
