Horrifying School Stabbing Incident in Brazil
This is the horrifying moment a 14-year-old boy stabbed a female classmate who laughed at him mispronouncing a word during a presentation.
The incident occurred at the Dom Jacson Damasceno Rodrigues Municipal School in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, on May 8.
Shocking footage captured the boy targeting the girl with a pen, stabbing her multiple times in the head and arm.
The Attack and Immediate Response
As the young boy and his classmates stood together holding up a poster for a science project, he suddenly directed his aggression towards the girl who had laughed at his mispronunciation.
The victim, sitting in the front row, attempted to shield herself by placing a sweater over her face.
Unfortunately, she sustained multiple stab wounds before her shocked classmates could react.
In the midst of chaos, one of the boys involved in the project bravely intervened to restrain the attacker, while other students rushed to assist.
Their quick actions helped to subdue the boy until the arrival of a Military Police unit, who subsequently apprehended him.

Investigation and Alleged Bullying
The police chief, Juliana Tuma, confirmed that the boy would be investigated for attempted murder, reflecting the severity of the incident.
In a video released to a Brazilian news outlet, the boy’s father, Jhon Barreto, expressed concerns over the safety of his family due to receiving death threats.
Barreto claimed that his son had been a victim of ongoing bullying at the school and emphasized that his son had never been involved in any criminal activities before.

Wider Context of School Violence in Brazil
Tragically, this incident is not an isolated case in Brazil.
According to a study conducted by Campinas State University, there have been a total of 24 violent attacks reported in Brazilian schools since 2002.
These incidents have caused grave concern among educators, parents, and policymakers.
Shockingly, there have been over 10 attacks targeting schools since 2011 alone, indicating a distressing trend of violence in educational environments.
Recent examples include a fatal stabbing of a teacher on March 27 by a 13-year-old student, which also left three teachers and another student injured.
Another horrific incident occurred on April 5, when a 25-year-old man broke into a daycare center in São Paulo, wielding a hatchet, resulting in the deaths of four children and injuries to five others.
