In an unexpected twist, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to be fuming over the attention received by his fellow inmate, Luigi Mangione, at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Center.
Both men are awaiting trial in the infamous New York facility, but sources claim Diddy is far from happy that Mangione, the alleged murderer of CEO Brian Thompson, has become more popular among the incarcerated population.
Diddy’s Ego and Mangione’s Popularity Clash
A source revealed that Diddy, 54, is not taking kindly to the fact that Mangione, 26, seems to be a bigger star in the prison.
“Diddy has been throwing tantrums about the attention Luigi is getting,” the source explained.
Mangione has apparently earned the admiration of other prisoners, who view him as a kind of hero despite his criminal actions, specifically his involvement in the shocking murder of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO.
Meanwhile, Diddy, who denies charges of sex trafficking, has reportedly been feeling the heat behind bars, with many inmates allegedly showing animosity toward him.
“Even in prison, Diddy’s ego is bigger than life,” said the insider.
Mangione’s Support and Reputation Inside the Jail
In contrast, Mangione has garnered considerable support from fellow inmates.
The source explained that Mangione has formed a bond with prisoners who relate to his struggles, especially regarding the issue of inadequate healthcare that is reportedly prevalent within the prison system.
“He’s not having a difficult time in prison because he’s received so much support from those who’ve shared similar experiences,” the source added.
Though Mangione and Diddy share the same legal team, the two have not interacted inside the facility.
Mangione remains in solitary confinement, while Diddy is placed in the general population.
The two do not seem to have anything in common, with the source noting they have had no contact at all.
The Legal Troubles Surrounding Diddy and Mangione
As for their legal battles, Mangione is facing severe charges following the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.
The killing, which took place as Thompson was walking to an investor conference in Manhattan, has shaken the business world.
Mangione, who allegedly had no prior connection to UnitedHealthcare, posted frequently about his back pain online before the incident, and his actions are said to be politically motivated.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges including terrorism-related murder and firearms violations.
On the other hand, Diddy is awaiting trial for sex trafficking and prostitution-related charges.
He has also been hit with numerous sexual assault lawsuits, with over 150 alleged victims coming forward.
These cases mostly involve claims of sexual abuse at parties in multiple states, where individuals reportedly consumed drug-laced drinks.
A Growing Divide Between the Two Inmates
While Diddy struggles with the negative attention surrounding his charges, Mangione seems to be embracing his new-found fame, with sources close to him claiming he is “moved” by the support he has received since his arrest.
Mangione has reportedly expressed shock and even some emotional gratitude for the attention he is getting, which has given him a sense of confidence.
Meanwhile, Diddy’s legal battles continue, and his apparent frustration with Mangione’s popularity in the prison seems to be growing.
As both await their respective trials, the spotlight on their cases continues to intensify.
