Diageo Launches Learning for Life Program to Train 250 Young People in Hospitality Skills and Life Skills in Lagos

Are you passionate about building a career in hospitality but have faced barriers to education or employment? Diageo’s Learning for Life (L4L) program is designed to give ambitious young people the skills and confidence to succeed in the hospitality industry, regardless of their background.

What the Program Offers

Learning for Life provides equal access to business and hospitality skills, helping participants improve employability, boost livelihoods, and contribute to a thriving hospitality sector.

Through partnerships with local educational, governmental, and training organizations, the program nurtures personal growth while strengthening the wider industry.

In 2025, the flagship L4L program in Nigeria will onboard 250 participants, equipping them with both hospitality industry-standard skills and essential life skills. Some of the key areas covered include:

  • Hospitality Business Essentials

  • Communication and Teamwork

  • Career Readiness

  • Bar Skills

  • Confidence and Assertiveness

  • Budgeting

  • Dealing with Sexual Harassment

  • Gender and Disability Inclusiveness

  • Sustainability

Hands-On Experience and Career Opportunities

After training, participants will have the chance to intern at leading hospitality businesses in Lagos.

For some, outstanding performance during the internship could lead to a permanent employment offer.

  • Training (Online & Physical): 15th – 19th September 2025

  • Internship Placement: September – December 2025

Program Phases

  1. Phase 1 – Training: 5 days of intensive hospitality and life skills learning

  2. Phase 2 – Internship: 11 weeks of on-the-job experience with hospitality and tourism businesses in Lagos

  3. Phase 3 – Employment Opportunities: A few exceptional participants may receive job offers
