ABU DHABI, 11th August, 2021 (WAM) — The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi has stated that the youth are the key drivers of development in many countries in general, and in the UAE in particular.
The UAE has proved that the youth have the determination and awareness to be capable of achieving and making decisions, by taking on responsibilities in vital sectors.
Dr. Bushra Al Mulla, Executive Director of the Community Development Sector at the DCD, said, “The world celebrates International Youth Day on 12th August every year, and it is an opportunity to pay attention to youth issues and find innovative solutions that contribute to overcoming them. Dedicating this day to the youth reflects their importance and motivates them to achieve and enhance societies.”
She added, “We at the DCD consider this occasion an opportunity to emphasise our commitment to supporting the youth and highlights their distinguished role in promoting sustainable development, especially since they are the main pillar on which countries’ hopes and ambitions are built. Our wise leadership gives its utmost attention to nurturing the youth, as they are the real wealth of the nation, and the leadership has provided them with the perfect environment to motivate, develop and refine their capabilities to actively contribute to building and progressing the country.”
Dr. Al Mulla also stressed that the DCD seeks to provide an incubating environment to listen to the innovative ideas of the youth, engage them in adopting initiatives and projects that enhance their social empowerment, and develop their talents and social values. They are the future and investing in supporting them should be done by providing them with the education and opportunities in all areas of development work.
