The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has made a pledge to create linking routes to all known tourist sites in the state.
This pledge was reiterated by the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Lawrence Ejiofor at just concluded Abuja Jabamah Expo 2021 which held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Sir Lawrence Ejiofor who represented the State along side the General Manager Tourism Board, Mrs Josephine Ogbolu, gave a detailed exposition of the tourist sites in Delta.
He explained that in the wake of our depreciating oil, tourism has become the next big thing as it is capable of promoting both our economy and culture.
He enlightened over a hundred Nigerians in attendance about the tourism projects currently in motion in the state including the film village and leisure park which is 70% done, the ongoing plans to kick start the development and restructuring of Lander Brother’s Anchorage, Asaba.
The Commissioner harped on the tourism qualities of Delta State, giving details of locations such as Araiah Bible site, Lander Brothers Anchorage, the source of River Ethiope (cotton tree at Umuaja) and many others urging Nigerians to take advantage of these beauties.
The Abuja Jabamah event which is done yearly was put together by the Akwaaba African Travel Market in partnership with Seven Wonders Nigeria and Nigeria Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).
The event which had in attendance Nigerians from various states aimed at creating, training and networking opportunities for the state in the tourism industry. It also gave opportunity to the States to market their tourist attraction on a larger scale.
