Wimbledon’s opening day is always packed with energy, but this year, the spotlight wasn’t just on the players—it was also on two of the biggest names in sports.

David Beckham and Maria Sharapova made a glamorous appearance at SW19, stealing a bit of the show before the first serve was even hit.

Beckham Makes a Transatlantic Sprint to Catch the Action

David Beckham didn’t let a busy schedule—or recent surgery—stop him from soaking up the Wimbledon vibes.

Just days after watching his Inter Miami side crash out of the Club World Cup in Atlanta against PSG, Beckham jetted across the Atlantic to be courtside in London.

Despite the whirlwind travel and recovering wrist, the 50-year-old football icon looked fresh and upbeat.

He even took time to share a cheerful selfie with his friend, tennis star Maria Sharapova, right on Henman Hill.

Recovering from Surgery but Still in High Spirits

Beckham recently underwent surgery to remove a screw that had been embedded in his wrist for over two decades—an old injury dating back to his days playing for England.

The pain had reportedly become “unbearable,” but Beckham told DAZN on Sunday night that everything is now “all good.”

He was seen earlier in the week at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium with his arm in a blue sling and plaster cast.

But at Wimbledon, it was business as usual—dressed sharp in a navy suit and seated in the prestigious Royal Box next to his mum, Sandra.

A Stylish Reunion with Sharapova

Maria Sharapova, a former Wimbledon champion herself, looked equally at ease as she and Beckham caught up.

The two have been friends for years, often seen together at high-profile events, especially those connected to Victoria Beckham’s fashion world.

Their reunion added a touch of celebrity sparkle to the opening day, and their presence on Henman Hill didn’t go unnoticed by fans—many of whom were stuck in a very different kind of experience just outside the gates.

The Queue That Tried Everyone’s Patience

While Beckham and Sharapova enjoyed seamless entry into the grounds, regular fans were caught in the infamous Wimbledon Queue—a beloved but notoriously long line to gain entry for those without pre-booked tickets.

As expected, the Queue was packed on Day One.

Many eager fans had camped out or arrived at dawn, hoping for a chance to experience the tournament live.

But by mid-morning, the situation turned grim for late arrivals.

Wimbledon’s official site issued a rare warning, urging people not to travel unless they already had tickets: “Please be aware that the Queue for Day 1 – Monday 30th June – is very busy and to avoid disappointment we strongly advise you not to travel to the Grounds today.”

A Glamorous Start with a Classic Wimbledon Twist

With celebs in the Royal Box and thousands sweating it out in line, Wimbledon kicked off in true British fashion—sunny, busy, and a bit chaotic.

But for fans and stars alike, it was another unforgettable start to one of the sport’s most cherished traditions.
