Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi put up a fantastic display to earn Kaizer Chiefs a point in their DSTV Premiership game against Marumo Gallants on Sunday.
The former Warri Wolves man made five point blank saves which proved to be the saving grace for Stuart Baxter’s Glamour Boys.
Akpeyi was first called into action in the 14th minute, Thabo Mnyamane thought he had scored, but Akpeyi’s reflexes denied an effort that was heading for the back of the net.
With both sides finishing the game with ten men after Sifiso Hlanti (Kaizer Chiefs) was sent off for a cynical foul, and Celimpilo Ngema (Marumo Gallants) also receiving marching orders, Akpeyi’s saves ensured that a point was earned.
The Super Eagles first choice Goalkeeper at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt was the busiest of the two goal keepers and he didn’t disappoint, he earned a superlative 7/10 rating, the highest by any Chiefs player on the evening
The draw takes the Amakhosi to 13th on the log ahead of their next League game, they will be on the move to Amazulu on October 2, 2021
