A Federal High Court presided over by Justice I. J. Ndigwe has adjourned to thirteenth April 2022 the case filed by Registered Trustees of West Africa Youth Support, Development Forum and Ambassador Prosper Ibezim against one Mr Peter Okoye, a popular Musician known as P-Square.

The case against Mr Peter Okoye was based on a bridge of contract he signed with the aforementioned Forum on sixteenth June 2019 in Anambra State.

Correspondent Emengini Osadebe who covered the proceedings reports that the case is at its pre-trial stage.

Speaking to the ABS, the Counsel to the Plaintiffs, Mr Afamefuna Akonanya stated that the Counsel to the defendant, Mr Somadina Okoli has filed a statement of defence and preliminary objection asking the court to strike out the case for want of jurisdiction.

Mr Akonanya who disclosed that they have requested for a date to appear with their own counter motion expressed optimism that his clients will get the justice they deserve as the Court is an institution of justice.

The Counsel to the defendant, Mr Okoli said they officially appeared before the court to file a notice of preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter, adding that the Plaintiffs have sued his client Mr Peter Okoye acclaiming bridge of contract.

One of the Plaintiffs who is also a member of Board of Directors West Africa Youth Support Development Forum, Ambassador Prosper Ibezim, said the forum signed a contract of Four Million Naira with Mr Peter Okoye to perform live at the inauguration of West African Championship League at Steven Keshi Stadium Asaba on June sixteenth 2019 of which they paid him on request, the seventy percent payment for the contract sum  at the tune of two point eight million naira but did not show up at the event without any reason and apology.

Condemning the act, Ambassador Prosper regretted the embarrassment it caused the organization.

He said that all his efforts to reach the defendant to resolve the issue amicably proved abortive asking Mr Peter Okoye to do the needful for peace to reign.

Recall that Mr Peter Okoye made a short video concerning his appearance at the event.
