By placing inexpensive coffins and urns for sale in shops next to the grills, Costco has shocked customers.

After witnessing the exhibit at the North Lakes supermarket in the Brisbane area, one customer posted a photo on social media.

The shopper captioned the photo, “Appropriately you may consider this as a last-minute impulsive purchase at the checkout.”

One of the largest retailers in the world, the US-based business offers members who pay an annual fee access to its wholesale merchandise at discounted pricing.

The image triggered a barrage of comments, with some people finding it funny and others claiming it was in “terrible taste.”

A responder said, “Economy class, the leg space is a problem.”

‘When I saw them for sale, I did a double take. Not nearly what I anticipated,” said a third.

Do they deliver, or do you have to attach it to the top of your vehicle and drive away? One more wrote.

Funeral homes sell a variety of coffins, most of which cost several thousand dollars.

The cost of a Costco coffin starts at $899.99, while an urn costs $159.99 and their caskets cost between $3099.99 and $1549.99.

The business has been offering the products for sale in their American locations as well as Australia since 2015.

The Ringwood shop in Melbourne has already seen the exhibit.

2009 saw the opening of the first Costco in Australia in Melbourne’s Docklands neighbourhood.

Victoria has four shops, NSW has four, Queensland has two, while Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra each have one warehouse.

In November, the 14th Australian warehouse for Costco will open in Perth’s Casuarina neighbourhood.
